I was at the 2008 Yokohama International Boat Show in the Kawasaki booth in Japan, and the rishing rig caught my eye on their display.
Fishing is one of the fastest selling features nowadays on Jet Skis, on many coastal and island nations the Personal Watercraft has become the vessel of choice for fishing nearshore zones due to it's economical attributes.
The four stroke personal watercraft are the most environmentally friendly craft in production today. This rig uses the conventional tie down and anchor points providided in the production models. The stern deck is used exclusively for the rig, so reboarding from the stern woudl be more challenging.
By looking at this simple system, I could see where there will be friction marks and the attachment points should be checked often in rough water riding. Also, the trolling speed for fishing depending upon the 'catch' is a leisure pace just above idle speed or below 8 knots most often. The big game of Tuna/yellowfin would be about 2-4 miles minimum offshore when the currents run warm in California.
Probably be better to have a rescue board and test the pole strength holders for larger game.
A GPS / Fish Finder is added to the area of the glove box, with additional electronic capability. I suppose it is rigged off the stock battery unit.
The Furno attachment for electrical contact is wrapped around the stern cleat and attached to the rail of the fishing rig itself.
Here is a side image of the electrical contact, not sure how good this works.I didn't try this system, but its a testimony to the interest in fishing with a PWC.
